We looked into these further, as elaborated below: Post identifying the prerequisites for an RCE to take place João Matos, a well-known security researcher from Brazil, identified the prerequisites needed for Ghostcat to become an RCE.įigure 2. These are requirements that, when combined, are hard to find in a real-world scenario. However, aside from an exposed AJP, it would require several other prerequisites for an RCE to happen. In summary, Ghostcat can cause issues to organizations if they have Tomcat AJP Connector exposed externally, which is not a recommended configuration in the first place. This scenario, combined with the ability to process a file as a JSP (as made possible through the vulnerability), would make an RCE feasible. The advisory further detailed the circumstances necessary for an RCE to take place: The web application needs to allow file upload and storage of these uploaded files within the web application itself, or an attacker would have to gain control over the content of the web application somehow. On the Apache Tomcat Security Advisory page, Ghostcat is described as “AJP Request Injection and potential Remote Code Execution.” The keyword “potential” serves to emphasize that Ghostcat is not an RCE vulnerability by default. Ghostcat in itself is a Local File Include/Read vulnerability and not an Arbitrary File Upload/Write vulnerability. Apache JServ Protocol illustration The Ghostcat Vulnerability This is important to point out, as it’s one of the prerequisites for the RCE scenario that we will discuss in the next section.įigure 1. The bottom line is that AJP is not, by nature, exposed externally. AJP is implemented as a module in the Apache HTTP Server, represented as mod_jk or mod_proxy_ajp. In simple terms, this means that the HTTP Connector is exposed to clients, while the AJP is used internally between the webserver (e.g., Apache HTTPD) and the Apache Tomcat server (illustrated in Figure 1). It is mainly used in a cluster or reverse proxy scenario where web servers communicate with application servers or servlet containers. The AJP is a binary protocol used by the Apache Tomcat webserver to communicate with the servlet container that sits behind the webserver using TCP connections. 20 by Chaitin Tech security researchers, who reported that the vulnerability exists in the Apache JServ Protocol (AJP). This blog entry seeks to put the most feared Ghostcat-related scenario into perspective by delving into the unlikely circumstances that would make it possible to allow an RCE through the vulnerability. Discussions surrounding the Ghostcat vulnerability ( CVE-2020-1938 and CNVD-2020-10487) found in Apache Tomcat puts it in the spotlight as researchers looked into its security impact, specifically its potential use for remote code execution (RCE).Īpache Tomcat is a popular open-source Java servlet container, so the discovery of Ghostcat understandably set off some alarms.

The Tower of the Winds on the ancient Greek agora in Athens once bore on its roof a weather vane in the form of a bronze Triton holding a rod in his outstretched hand, rotating as the wind changed direction. The oldest textual reference in China to a weather vane comes from the Huainanzi dating from around 139 BC, which mentions a thread or streamer that another commentator interprets as "wind-observing fan" ( hou feng shin, 侯風扇). History Wind vanes are found on small horizontal-axis wind turbines Wind vanes are also found on small wind turbines to keep the wind turbine pointing into the wind. In a sufficiently strong wind, the head of the arrow or cockerel (or equivalent) will indicate the direction from which the wind is blowing. Other common motifs include ships, arrows, and horses. The word vane comes from the Old English word fana, meaning "flag".Ī cockerel is a traditional figure used as a vane placed on top of the cardinal directions.Īlthough partly functional, wind vanes are generally decorative, often featuring the traditional cockerel design with letters indicating the points of the compass. It is typically used as an architectural ornament to the highest point of a building. Nowadays, a rooster directional vane is primarily seen on a barn, and bars have them as well featuring an arrow, a whale, an eagle, or a horse.Look up weather vane in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.Ī wind vane, weather vane, or weathercock is an instrument used for showing the direction of the wind. They used the direction of the wind and its speed to make weather predictions. In Colonial America, these wind indicators were important to farmers and sailors. The earliest weather vanes dating back thousands of years have been discovered in Greece. How did the weather vane come into general use? Full-bodied, three-dimensional wind vanes may feature a pig, dog, or other animal made to scale. The detailed swell-bodied style includes details such as eyes, claws, and hooves for an animal or ornamentation on an inanimate object. The simple swell-bodied styles consist of two identical silhouette shapes welded together for a fuller look. The silhouette style focuses on the shape of the object or design selected. Weather vane manufacturers produce four main styles of vanes. Aluminum is also easy to shape, which allows them to be designed more intricately than wind vanes made from other types of materials. Aluminum - Aluminum is also used to manufacture weather vanes because it withstands prolonged sunlight, moisture, and wind. The tarnished look can be applied to copper during the manufacturing process, or the copper can be allowed to tarnish naturally from wind and weather. Copper - Copper is the most popular type of material used to manufacture wind vanes, primarily due to its appearance.Weather vanes are often made of some kind of metal for its durability. Brand - You can select a specific brand like Whitehall, or you can choose one that is handmade.Condition - eBay offers inexpensive used weather vanes in good condition or new, pricier ones.Extension length - Eave mounts can also be attached to the exterior wall of a barn and extend as much as 12 inches from the wall. The largest and heaviest weather vanes should be attached to a mount that can handle more than 40 pounds. Weight - The roof mount is also an important choice.A larger building or cupola can handle taller and longer weather vanes. Dimensions - When mounted on a small cupola or shed, a wind vane shouldn't be more than 21 inches long and 8 inches tall.Size - They generally come in three different sizes, and getting the right size for your home, barn, or other building is of primary importance. Here are some things to consider before purchasing a weather vane: eBay has several categories to help with your selection, too. When you're searching for a new or used weather vane on eBay, there are various factors you should take into account. How should you select a weather vane on eBay? A rooster weather vane is mounted at the highest point of a cupola or building to catch the wind and show its direction. This tool, made of materials such as copper, iron, or aluminum, and sometimes wood, shows the direction from which the wind is blowing. You'll Be Blown Away by the Right WeathervaneĪ weather vane, also known as a wind vane, is both a scientific instrument and a decorative item for a barn or home's exterior. In 2014 Cahill was cast as a main character starting in the second season of the CBS summer drama Under the Dome. He played "annoying neighbor Terry, a swinging bachelor true to the era, who unlike everyone else in this play, has no deep feelings at all." In the summer of 2012 Cahill performed in David Adjmi's play, 3C, at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City. When CBS decided in 2004 to create a third CSI series, CSI: NY, to add to its franchise, Cahill was hired to play the cocky, snarky homicide detective, Don Flack, who backs up the team of CSIs and who gets some of the best lines. He had never played the goaltender position prior to the movie, so most of the game-action sequences of Craig were filmed with former NHL goalie Bill Ranford doubling for Cahill, although Cahill did shoot several key sequences from within goal. In the 2004 hockey movie Miracle, Cahill had the chance to play his boyhood hero, goalie Jim Craig. In 2002, he starred in a short-lived WB drama, Glory Days. Cahill was also a recurring guest-star in the NBC sitcom Friends as Rachel's young assistant and boyfriend, Tag Jones. He was noticed by Sarah Jessica Parker and shortly after he made several television guest-star appearances including Sex and the City, Felicity, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. There has to be that "oh no" factor when something goes wrong, and that requires there be a chance for it to go right. I don't even necessarily mind that they're unable to kill your vehicle in a single encounter, just so long as there's a reasonable chance for the player to escape with no damage, rather than it just being a toll for passing that particular stretch of cave. We need to be able to choose to do the scary thing (attempt to sneak around or dodge the leviathan), rather than learn that leviathans are just a toll road which demands 40% of your seatruck's HP in exchange for letting you pass. Leviathans are supposed to be terrifying, not annoying, and for that to work, the player needs some agency. When I do see them, I might try sneaking around the edge of the cave, but that usually results in me sitting back and watching that annoying animation yet again, hopping out of the seatruck yet again, and repairing 40% damage yet again. Now, in Below: Zero? Most often, by the time I even see them, they're already locked onto me, and they move so fast that I just wind up accepting 40% damage to the seatruck. I was on my toes, attempting to avoid engagement with them. There are a total of four Chelicerates within Sector Zero on Planet 4546B and three Void Chelicerates within the edges of the sector. It resides mostly in the Tree Spires, but it can also be found in the Purple Vents and the East Arctic. In the first game, I found it possible to sneak around, and in the worst case dodge, the predatory leviathans. The Chelicerate (pronounced 'keh-li-ser-ate') is an aggressive leviathan class fauna species of Subnautica: Below Zero. The key element that's missing is engagement, and the cause of this is ironic: they are faster, more agile, and spot you from further away than in the first game. Once the Leviathan gets stuck in a wall- just avoid the fireball attacks and you can escape. In Below Zero, I feel that the shadow leviathans are simply annoying: a time and repair tool battery tax rather than something to be feared and respected. If you do encounter one of these, find cover in tight spaces. They can swat vehicles with their forearms, and their long-range fireball attacks are fatal too. Even if you have the Reinforced Dive Suit on, a Sea Dragon Leviathan can instantly kill you by swallowing. I think the strategy is to get out of the Prawn a few times and hit it with a Stasis pew pew. This monstrous sea creature is second only to the Sea Emperor Leviathan in terms of size and strength. Ghost Leviathan Prawn Suit (Subnautica) Prawn Suit Drill Arm (Subnautica) Prawn Suit Grappling Arm (Subnautica) 0. The adults, however, are far more threatening. They’ll still do a fair bit of damage to the unprotected player, so underestimate them at your own risk. So, highlights: Huey and Louie circle the Lava Castle. 2 of the Sea Dragons are in the Inactive Lava Lake, while 1 enjoys the Lava Lakes all alone. Despite their datapad entry, Ghost Leviathan juveniles don’t seem to be as aggressive as the Reapers, and will largely leave you alone as you traverse the Lost River. Highest voted names stayed, less popular got migrated to leviathans that lacked a name (in case the same name was suggested to two different leviathans, the higher-scored stayed, and the other got the runner-up name. These easy to spot creatures can be found floating around the East. Ghost leviathan eats plankton in the water, the sea dragon hunts reapers for food. Dragon has a bigger advantage, ghost is stronger then reaper but is meant to be scary so you don’t go in the void, that’s all, dragon wins definitely. This gentle drifting giant is a massive whale-shaped creature that comes in at a respectable 30 meters long, but despite its intimidating size, it's completely harmless. The sea dragon, because he have claws and he can shoot fire for his mouth. Seller was more than accommodating to help make this piece for an aquarium and its by far the best quality 3D print that Ive ever bought. The Sea Dragon is the largest Aggressive Leviathan in Subnautica, and it’s a good thing that there are only 3 of these in the game. The Glow Whale is by far the biggest friendliest fish in the freezing cold depths of Subnautica: Below Zero. severe eye pain or headaches that don't go away.loss of vision or visual changes (other than blurriness caused by the swelling). You should also seek immediate medical help if you have these symptoms along with the injury: You should seek medical help right away if you lost consciousness when you received the black eye. Alternatively, the white of your eye might be bright red because there is bleeding on the surface of the eye. Sometimes you might also have bleeding inside your eye, and this is a medical emergency that needs treatment. That’s because the skin around the eye is quite loose, thin and transparent, meaning it puffs up easily and even a little pooling of blood can cause discolouration. The eye itself is not usually damaged.Ī black eye can often look worse than it actually is. These tissues will usually be swollen too. Since you can stream to some Chromecast-able devices and not to others, you seem to have turned on the option to do so per app individually. But even though te Apple AirPlay streaming option shows up, the Google Chromecast option only shows up in some of my iPhone apps and not in the other ones : in my case I can stream to Google Chromecast devices from the Spotify and Netflix iOS-apps, and not from Disney+, AmazonPrime and ZiggoGo…Įven though AirPlay is always available on iOS/iPadOS and Apple AirPlay devices are automatically detected by default, the Google Chromecast option is turned off by default. They will get back to you with questions, so make sure you have installed the latest Spotify version, the latest Google Home version and let them know which Android version you have (can be found in Settings > About the phone).I have some Chromecast devices (a Google Chromecast, a Google Nest Hub, a Google Home Mini, etc.) that I want to stream to from my iPhone. Choose Technical issues > Other > Click on the " I still need help" button > Fill in the problem and send the question. If you don’t see the cast screen icon AND the Chromecast screen saver isn’t showing up on your TV, there’s a problem with your Wifi connection. Now, it appears that its only affecting my wireless devices that try to cast. So when my Chromecast isn’t showing up or my cast to screen icon is missing on my device, I will do what’s necessary to get it working again. You can contact Spotify Support on this link. Ive currently got a Home, mini and 3 chromecast hooked up to my network and either 1) none of them show up on my wireless devices to cast to 2) some will show up 3) theyll all show up and then disappear. The more people contact them, the higher the chance that they will actually do something with it. My hope is that they realise that this is a bug that needs to be fixed and the best way to do that is for everyone with the same problem to contact Spotify Support and let them give you all the suggestions they have, and finally respond to them that none of it helps. Just click on the icon on the right bottom part of the screen on the taskbar to reveal the taskbar or just hit the button combination on the keyboard. I got a lot of suggestions that did not help (delete cache and saved data in the Spotify app, re-install the app, make sure you have the latest version of the Spotify app (and the Google Home app), make sure you have the latest firmware on your Chromecast devices), but none of this helps. I have told them that I think this is a bug that they need to fix,so hopefully they will do that. Your iOS or Android device must be connected to the same Wi. If you can’t find your Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast Audio, TV with Chromecast Built-In or Chromecast Built-In speaker, try the troubleshooting steps below. Select the Chromecast device that you wish to use. Several issues can prevent your Chromecast device from showing up when casting from Chrome. I have been in contact with Spotify Support and they are not able to help. From the Prime Video app, select the Cast icon. You’ll be able to see the name of the WiFi network right next to ‘Network (SSID).’. Once there, enter ‘Network’ and then ‘Advanced’ to check the ‘Network Status.’. Now, go to ‘Settings’ and head over to ‘Network & Accessories.’. Unfortunately this will not last, and you will get the same problem in a few hours and then you will have to do the workaraound again. Turning the Chromecast, mobile device, and router off and on again at the same time can actually resolve many casting related issues. First, press the home button on your Chromecast TV remote. This is the same workaround most of us have experienced. All is connected to my 5 GHz WiFi, tablet, phone, chromecasts. Tablet: yes, phone: no, start tablet, phone: yes. The Chromecast (normal, new one) in my TV gives me the same result. It looks like the Spotify app on my phone is no longer able to detect the Chromecast when the Chromecast app is not started yet where the tablet does. I suppose for example that the Spotify app must be started on the Chromecast (for it show up on your desktop as well). So maybe you can check if the Chromecast does show up after another device has connected to it with Spotify? Doesn't solve the problem completely but maybe gives a hint of where things are going wrong. The tablet (Samsung Tab 10.1) never has any problems finding the Chromecast from Spotify. I can use this chromecast in any other app, as well as Home.īut when I connect spotify to the Chromecast on my tablet it immidiately shows up on my phone as well. I do not see the Chromecast (Audio) in spotify with my (Samsung S5) phone. |
